Never Give Up!

Innitial Reading :

Lamentations 1 v1-22.

This describes the state of the modern day church, she has become more like unto this passage. Where seats where once filled, they have become more and more empty with each passing day, and so the lords word instead of being lifted up, and praised has more become a chore, something we must do, something that must be done because it is what must be done, but not because it needs to be done.

Many of us in life, do our best to do the right thing, to raise up our father, to be what we need to be for him, but we fail, we fall, and eventually we give up. We have people laugh at us, we hear the snickers and the jests, and we let ourselves believe we are as worthless as those people feel. Take heart, if you are a Christian, if you truly believe that Jesus is the way, the truth , and the light, then you must know that he will hold you up, even when you fall, even when you fail, even when you feel you can not go on.

But, the bible goes deeper. There are verses through out the Bible that tell us how the Bible views giving up. The first and most important of these is Joshua Chapter 1 Verses 7-9 The emphasis on this should be Verse 9, although the other two verses are very telling, Verse 9 sets a precident that should not ever be forgotten.. Verse 9 says HAVE I NOT COMMANDED YOU? Here God tells us he commanded us.. to do what? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed and why? Because the lord is with us always.. What a thought, he not only gave his son that we might have eternal life, but he walks with us every where we go.

Many people say, “ Yeah Sure, God is with me, but what can I do? People do not listen, People do not try, People act like children I have tried but I can not do it....” Matthew Chapter 19 Verse 26, says Jesus beheld them and said lo, with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible... Now if we believe God is with us, as we have been told he will be then surely we have to believe that all things are possible with God beside us. Because we do things in his name, not our own.

Still we get so weary, we get so distraught, maybe we think that God will is not with us, because we are doing it all wrong. He hasn't brought anything to fruition yet, if we were doing right, God would have brought us to fruition right? Maybe.. Let us remember Galatians 6:9 Where it reads “ And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” And we say, In due season, but what is due season? We wonder since due season is not here yet, if we are ever going to see it, and to that we need to remember 2 peter chapter 3 verses 8 and 9 . This gives us an example of time for God, who is both the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. What does he say there though The Lord is not slack concerning his promises. He will give it to you, you only need to make sure you are ready when the time comes, and remember that he is right there beside you through every thing you do, and that if you keep his word, and follow his commandments, and never get tired of doing what he commands then you will be rewarded.
Finally there are those of us who have tried, and failed, and maybe even fell backwards a few steps, maybe even went back to the beginning and wonder if it is worth it, if there is any chance of things becoming better. To that we must remember one of the most beautiful verses of the Bible, Psalms 37:24 Where it says that even if we fall, We are not utterly cast down, because God holds our hand. What better promise can there be? What better reason to keep going than simply because our father, who loves us so much stands beside us, holding our hand, to make sure that when we do fall, we do not find ourselves lost completely in the abyss.

Remember the 23 psalms,
1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Surely Goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives, and we will dwell in the house of the lord forever..

Never get tired of doing the right thing, never get tired of following Gods commands, even if it is a struggle every hour of every moment, even if it seems like it is not sinking in, even if it seems people can not understand, it is not for us to understand why God plants thoughts in our head, or why he asks us to do stuff, but it is for us to do as he commands. Like the old Credo... “Ours is not to question why, ours is but to do or die”

Never get tired of doing the right thing.
