2 Peter 3:5-6 "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old and the earth standing out of the water and in the water (6) Whereby the world that then was being overflowed with water, perished."
Are you willing to stand by and be willfully ignorant as our world heads down the road to destruction such as the way they did in Noah's time? Are you willing to let your salvation wait?
1 Thessalonians 5:2 Says
"For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night."
So that means that no one knows when the end is coming, which is true. No man knows the hour or the day, but the word of God gives us a very good description of what times will be like when the times are ripe for the end.
In order for the end times to truly be upon us the Gospel must reach the entire world. There should not be one part of this world that is left without the chance to know The Lord and the chance to get acquainted with the living God. Matthew 24:14 reads.
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
However we are to remain vigilante in case that happens, we are to remain aware and not let ourselves fall into the purvue of false prophets. The word tells us that in the end days there will be many false prophets, that they will be after your money and they will make up many stories to get that from you. They will make up things to get you to follow along, and they will be a reason why those who follow the word of God are mocked and largely considered evil. 2 Peter 2 verses 1-3 read:
2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Now think about modern Christianity. Are Christians viewed in intelligent circles as people who are worthy of esteem, or are they viewed as a laughing stock, a reason to jest? Are they viewed as the people Christ wanted us to be, or are they viewed more as a group of hateful un-righteous, self important people who do not care about anything? Starting to see prophecy fall into place?
Here in America we always seem to be right on the edge of another war. Even as of late there are talks of invading Syria. People are awfully scared about this, as they were about the wars before that, but what does the Bible tell us about war, and especially in the end times? Mark 13 verse 7 reads:
And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet
That's right there shall be wars and rumors of wars in the end times. There will be a war, and then another one rumored, and possibly fought. Indeed the Bible tells us that nation will rise against nation (Mark 7:8 and Luke 21:10)
There will also be great signs from Heaven...
As I lay this verse out for you I want you to think about what kind of cataclysms the world of today has been facing. Tsunami's the like of which never before seen have washed the dead upon the shores, hurricanes, Massive Earth Quakes.. Etc.. Sure does seem to be a lot of natural disasters lately, what does the Bible say?
Luke 21:11 says “ And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.”
Have you heard of global warming? It's a myth right? That's what we are lead to believe by some people in power. However, even Modern day science has said it is real. Slowly but surely the sun is melting the polar ice caps, and they are flooding into the ocean. This is causing a lot of violence in nature and we are starting to see signs of it in every day life. Can you not already feel that the air around you seems just a bit warmer than those days when you were younger and more care free. Would it interest you to know that the word mentions this as well? Revelation 16 verse 8 reads:
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
Does this stop mankind from stupidity? Does even the threat of burning alive, or being destroyed by the mere the thought of the plagues spoken about in Revelation 6 ( read the whole thing, if you aren't saved you might just have nightmares) No because in Revelation 16 verse 9 we find out that man .. Oh you foolish man.. They don't believe or care.. Instead they wickedly and foolishly hold on to their own precious views. Revelation 16 Verse 9 reads:
And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
So we start to get a picture of what the end times are like. If you haven't clearly formed it in your mind yet let me paint the picture vividly for you.
There will be wars and rumors of wars, there will be great out cryings of pain, famine, hunger, There will be great disease that we can not find cures for, and there will be an outpouring of excess heat from the sun. People will mock the people who bring truth the world, in fact truth will be hidden amongst the lies and false prophets. These false prophets will be after one thing, and they will act like merchandisers to sell you something. Everything will be fake, everything will be hidden, and there will be only a handful of people interested in telling the truth. Those will be made fun of. The world will be much like it was in the day of Noah. Luke 17:26 reads:
And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
Does this sound like a world that is too far in the distant future? Or does it sound more like the world we live in now than most people would like to admit? I think it behooves each of us to pull out our Bibles, and study. To bend down on our knees and pray, and to hope that God will see in his infinite wisdom that we do love him, and are ready, and waiting to be with him in heaven. That we are set apart from this world. That we are believers in a true and living God who will save us from death if we allow him to do so. Or.. we could just ignore it. Walk away and be blissfully ignorant .. You know.. like the people in Noah's Day....
